Site 1:  Northycote Farm – Bushbury – Wolverhampton

Introduction To Site:  Letter outlining alleged activity at farm received by Ghost Club in Jan. 1997.

Reported Activity:  Number of apparitions supposedly witnessed at site, including two separate figures in 17th Century garb, a gentleman in a stovepipe hat (in the ladies toilet) and a woman seen sweeping restaurant floor.

Poltergeist-like activity reported.  Movement of objects, uneasy feelings experienced and inexplicable sounds heard.

Investigation:  The Ghost Club conducted 4 overnight vigils at Northycote between March and September 1997.

 

 

Site 2:  The Olde White Rose Public House - Bilston

 Introduction To Site:  Local press report concerning potential ghostly activity appeared in late Feb. 1998.

Reported Activity:  Swarthy looking figure in period clothing witnessed by landlord in pub cellar one morning.  (Solitary occurrence).

Investigation:  Joint vigil incorporating Ghost Club and ‘ParaSearch’ members held at pub in March 1998.

 

 

 Site 3:  Belgrave Hall / The Talbot Hotel / St. Peters Churchyard – Belgrave – Leicester.

Introduction To Site:  Members of the Ghost Club invited to Leicester in Oct. 2000 by B.B.C. Television.

Reported Activity:  Ghost of a woman in Victorian dress allegedly haunts Belgrave Hall, while the figures of a man with a deformed face and a little boy have been seen at the Talbot.  (The latter is also the site of poltergeist activity).  In nearby St. Peters Churchyard, a woman has supposedly been witnessed walking ‘through’ grave stones…  

Investigation:  Members of the Ghost Club, Black Country Paranormal Society and ASSAP conducted vigils at all three sites on (Fri.) Oct. 13th 2000.  The resulting documentary – ‘Ghosts’ – was broadcast on B.B.C. 2 – Jan. 18th 2001.

 

 

Site 4:  Three Tuns Public House – Sutton Coldfield.

Introduction To Site:  Ghost Club files contain a number of reports related to the building dating back many years.  Phone conversation with pub manager in Oct. 2000 secured permission for group to visit site.  

Reported Activity:  Local legend has it that the ghost of a Royalist drummer boy – murdered during Civil War period – haunts pub cellar.  Reports of encounters with the ghost date back decades.

Investigation:  Members of the Ghost Club and Black Country Paranormal Society conducted night time vigil at 3 Tuns on Oct 30th 2000.  

 

 

 

Site 5:  The Court Oak Public House – Harbourne – Birmingham.

Introduction To Site:  Local press article concerning ghost appeared Feb 2001.  Group subsequently obtained permission to visit site from manager, Lillian Campbell.

Reported Activity:  Ghost of a woman dressed in black and white clothing said to haunt pub.  Masculine figure in denim blue colour seen by Licensee on 2 occasions.

Poltergeist activity reported – sometimes destructive in nature.  Inexplicable movement of object and stock (bottles of relatively expensive wine) found smashed on cellar floor periodically.

Investigation:  Ghost Club carried out two overnight investigations at site:  March – June 2001.  During course of visits, some anomalous sound recordings obtained.   

 

 

Site 6:  Brewery Stores Public House – Walsall.

 Introduction To Site: ghostly incidents at pub mentioned in number press reports during early 1998.  Phone conversation with Manager in Aug. 2001 secured permission to investigate building. 

Reported Activity:  During renovation of building in 97 – 98, workman reported seeing hooded figure materialising from a cellar wall.  Poltergeist activity also witnessed.  Latter mentioned also apparently continued after pub subsequently opened.

Investigation:  Overnight vigils carried out in Sept. and Oct (Halloween) 2001.

 

 

Site 7:  B-CASS Disabled Centre – Brownhills – Walsall.

Introduction To Site:  Letter sent to group by Centre members in Nov. 2001.

Reported Activity:  Plethora of alleged happenings.  Figure of blonde, fresh complexioned woman seen.  Man witnessed standing at kitchen window.  Voice of young boy heard calling ‘Hello’ from corner of building.  Disembodied voices heard on number of occasions.  Non existent car heard pulling onto Centre car park.  Poltergeist - like activity includes movement of object, extreme temperature fluctuations and, occasionally, examples of physical attack. 

Investigation:  Three overnight vigils held at centre during Jan. to Aug. 2002.  (Final stay in presence of Mr. Steve Bullen - 3rd yr. Media Student at Farnborough Coll. Of Tech. Hampshire.  Resulted in production of 20 minute documentary: ‘Ghosthunter’.)

 

 

Site 8:  Livingstone Academy Of Dance – Wednesbury.

Introduction To Site:  Section of Carol Arnall’s book ‘Mysterious Occurrences’ concerns activity at building.  Phone conversation with Academy owners secured permission to visit.

Reported Activity:  Troublesome poltergeist effect.  Pictures regularly removed from walls and smashed.  Door inexplicably locked trapping young dance students inside room.  (Lock had to be broken off to free them as no key to area found).  Sound of someone entering building regularly heard when no one is there. Cellar lights seen switched on from outside building when no one has access to that part of site.

Investigation:  Group members visited site on two occasions in April 2002.

 

 

Site 9:  Lilleshall Abbey – Shropshire

Introduction To Site:  References to ghostly activity at Abbey date back at least 100 yrs.  (Doyen of ghost hunters, the late Elliot O’ Donnell, investigated the site during the 1930’s).

Reported Activity:  Sound of chanting monks, shrieking, and footsteps allegedly heard.  Elderly monk seen in Abbey ruins.

Investigation:  Group members visited site on a number of occasions.  Official Ghost Club overnight investigation held April 2002.

 

 

 

Site 10:  Starting Gate Public House – Walsall.

Introduction To Site:  Considerable amount of information on building has resided in Club files for many years.  Group invited to investigate following conversation with manager in mid-2002.

Reported Activity:  Paranormal activity reported at pub from at least 1970’s onward.  Apparitions seen include: shimmering figure in cellar;  girl in 60’s clothing on 1st floor of building; woman with long black hair, wearing ball gown.

Rampant poltergeist activity reported.  Object movement / destruction; dramatic temperature changes; interaction with electrical appliances / sources, etc.

Investigation:  Three overnight vigils held at site – June 2002, Feb. 2003, April 2003 – with further visits pending.  (Ghost Club presence at site resulted in considerable interest from press.  9 separate articles printed, including a mention in ‘The Sun’ in July 2002).

During one vigil, the lights to the cellar area being inexplicably switched on and off were caught on video. 

 

 

Site 11:  Council House – Bloxwich – Walsall.

Introduction To Site:  Phone call from resident in Feb. 2003.

Reported Activity:  Poltergeist effect.  Knocking / banging sounds.  Movement of objects.  Light phenomena.

Investigation:  Two overnight vigils carried out by group members in March and April 2003.  A Number of anomalous sounds were recorded during visits to site.

 

 

 

Site 12:  Hednesford Rd. / Coombe House Ruins / Brownhills Common - Walsall 

Introduction To Site:  E-mail regarding Hednesford Road sent to group in late March 2003.  Details concerning Coombe House and Brownhills Common sent in following subsequent press release.

Reported Activity: 

Hednesford Rd:  Disproportionate, fast moving figure - said to exude 'evil' presence - witnessed by four friends in March 1999.

Coombe House Ruins:  Man in 'top hat and tails' seen.

Brownhills Common:  'Tall, grey, shrouded figure' witnessed eight times over the space of a number of years.

Investigation:  Visit to all three sites carried out on Fri. 20th June 2003.

 

 

Site 13:  The Littleton Arms Public House - Walsall

Introduction To Site:  E-mail sent in to group by Littleton regular Gillian Ponter in Mid-June 2003.

Reported Activity:  Figure of an old woman allegedly seen in bar area.  Numerous poltergeist-like effects reported.

Investigation:  The W.M.G.C. conducted an overnight vigil on Sat. 20th Sept. 2003.

 

 

 

Site 14:  Private Residence - West Bromwich Area.

Introduction To Site:  Initial 'word of mouth' reference, leading to invitation from house owner.

Reported Activity:  Inexplicable footsteps; breathing sensations; Tall, shadowy form seen on numerous occasions; typical poltergeist effects.

Investigation:  Overnight vigil carried out by group members on Oct. 3rd, 2003.

 

 

Site 15:  The Wheatsheaf Public House - Walsall

Introduction To Site:  Initial 'word of mouth' reference, leading to invitation from pub managers.

Reported Activity:  Sound of footsteps accompanied by banging doors heard during early hours.  Jazz music heard from empty Function Room.  Poltergeist-like effects, including:  movement of objects and electrical interference.  Figure of man in RAF uniform allegedly seen.....

Investigation:  Members of the W.M. Ghost Club conducted overnight vigil on Oct. 25th 2003.

 

 

Site 16:  The Alcatraz Rock Club - Willenhall

Introduction To Site:  E-mail sent to group by club manager, Sandra Evans in Sept. 2003.

Reported Activity:  Tall, dark, cloaked figure seen numerous times in bar area of building.  Customer physically 'groped' by invisible assailant.  Poltergeist type effects including:  disturbance of electrical equipment; feelings of being physically ‘touched’ - one girl having had strands of hair lifted off her face while standing in the ladies toilet - and chairs moving of their own accord with people sitting on them….

Investigation:  W.M.G.C. members conducted an overnight vigil at the site on Oct. 31st 2003.

 

 

Site 17:  Whitefriars - Coventry City

Introduction To Site:  Invitation to monitor all night sleep-over sent to W.M.G.C. in November 2003.

Reported Activity:  Said to be haunted by the ghost of Lady Hale.  When the site was a workhouse during the 19th / early 20th Cent, inmates reportedly saw a woman - with long hair and a sad, anxious expression - walking the Main Hall on numerous occasions.

Investigation:  W.M.G.C. members spent night at the site on Dec. 5th 2003.

 

 

Site 18:  Telford Steam Railway - Horsehay - Shropshire

Introduction To Site:  W.M.G.C. aware of activity at site for a number of years.

Reported Activity:  Footsteps and a shadowy, male figure have been experienced in the Loco Shed.  Young, male figure dressed as engine driver or fireman seen.  Phantom fire witnessed on outside of building.

Investigation:  W.M.G.C. visited site on Feb. 8th 2004.

 

 

 

Site 19:  The Manor House Restaurant - West Bromwich

Introduction To Site:   'Cold Call' by investigator Frazer Smith

Reported Activity:  Plethora of paranormal happenings dating back to when site was still a private dwelling.  Apparitions:  man with beard / man in black hat and coat / elderly woman and young girl.  Poltergeist-like activity reported.

Investigation:  Site visited 30th May / 3rd, 5th and 17th August 2004

 

 

 

 

Site 20:  The Moat House - Tamworth - South Staffordshire

Introduction To Site:  Investigation arranged by group member, Steve Chew.

Reported Activity:  Plethora of alleged ghostly happenings.  Apparitions: 'grey lady' / a man in a smoking jacket carrying a cigar and brandy glass / an old woman in a rocking chair / woman in Victorian costume seen in library window / 'Horrific face' also seen in kitchen window.  Numerous instances of poltergeist-like activity also reported.

Reported Activity:  Plethora of poltergeist-like effects reported, incl. the movement of objects / physical assault / Shadowy figures seen / disembodied laughter heard, etc.

Introduction To Sites / Investigation:  W.M.G.C. members were invited to conduct investigations at three separate sites on Oct. 31st as part of a 'Live Ghost Hunt' organised via the Mander Centre and Wolf FM Radio.

Reported Activity:  Glasses shattering / Shadowy figures seen / Sound of Laughter and singing heard in the cellar. (Right).

Reported Activity:  Allegedly haunted by ghost of former landlord and local prostitute.  Mild poltergeist-type activity reported. (Left).

Reported Activity:  Poltergeist-like events, including movement / breaking of objects.  Inexplicable sounds.  Numerous apparitions, including: an indistinct figure; a gypsy woman and an elderly man.

Investigation:  Group filmed at site by I.T.V. crew on December the 11th 2006, for inclusion in an episode of 'Central-Extra' documentary series.

Reported Activity:  Numerous ghosts allegedly associated with property - including that of a Soldier, a murdered servant, a young girl and others.

Introduction To Site:  Numerous references to peculiar happenings, stretching over a period of many years.  This visit was a collaboration between West Midlands Ghost Club, Black Country Paranormal Society, South Staffs Ghost Club and independent parties.

Reported Activity:  Variety of incidents reported over many years, including UFO activity, alien big Cat sightings, Bigfoot sightings, Werewolf sightings and many instances of ghostly encounters.

Visit:  Site visited on September the 1st 2007.

 

 

Site 58:  The Garrick Theatre - Lichfield.

Introduction To Site:  Investigation organised by Steve Chew, following media reports concerning activity at the site.

Reported Activity:  Varied activity, including:  inexplicable 'winds' felt inside the premises / Feelings of being physically 'pushed' by unseen presence on stairs / sound of 'high heeled' shoes heard on stairs in area at side of stage / poltergeist activity in theatre bar area / fleeting glimpses of figures in certain parts of the building.

Site 59:  The Royal Air Force Association Flarepath Club - Tamworth

Introduction To Site:  Investigation organised by Steve Chew, following a recent Tamworth Herald article outlining happenings at the site.

Reported Activity:  Woman in a long white night dress seen / former employee seen /  tobacco smoke, perfume and 'custard' smelled / bottles smashed of own accord / doors open by themselves / The sound of change in till heard / noise of a man ‘coughing’ in the downstairs toilet.

Visit:  Site visited on October the 12th 2007.

 

 

Site 60:  Warwick Castle - Warwickshire

Introduction To Site:  Investigation organised by Steve Chew in collaboration with Danny Kelly of BBC Radio WM.

Reported Activity:  Alleged ghostly activity at Warwick Castle includes the haunting of the Fulke Greville Tower (knocking sounds on panelling in certain rooms, etc); the legendary ghost of 'witch', Moll Bloxham who appears in the form of a gigantic, black hound and, in the Japanese Corridor, the sound of footsteps which have supposedly manifested for over a century.

Site 61:  Bosworth Battlefield - Sutton Cheney - Leicestershire

Introduction To Site:  Site researched and visit organised by John Conway.

Reported Activity:  The area surrounding Bosworth Battlefield is allegedly haunted by a phantom horseman and a headless foot soldier.

Site 62:  Rushall - Walsall

Introduction To Site:  Original reference from local historian, Diane Wilkes. 

Reported Activity:  Reports of a the figure of a 'Grey Lady' have been reported around the Rushall and East Ryecroft area since at least the beginning of the 1960's.

Site 63:  Madam Clarkes Coffee House - Wolverhampton

Introduction To Site:  Private reference given to WMGC member John Conway.

Reported Activity:  movement of objects / noises - including the sound of children ‘giggling’, objects breaking, loud bangs, footsteps, muffled speech and names of staff members being called out / a ‘Grey Lady’ and other figures seen around the property / feelings of being watched / staff member had ‘bottom pinched’.

Site 64:  Unnamed Ecclesiastical Site - Staffordshire

Introduction To Site:  Initial reference taken from publication and later private reference.

Reported Activity:  Monk like figure seen around the property concerned and also on common ground situated nearby.

Site 65:  Sandwell Council Training Centre - Oldbury

Introduction To Site:  Contact established by group member John Conway

Reported Activity:  Woman In grey seen; little girl seen; figures of two men in cow-gowns seen; peculiar experiences, including poltergeist activity.

Site 66: Alcester Town Hall - Alcester - Warwickshire 

Introduction To Site:  Contact established by group member John Conway

Reported Activity:  Allegedly haunted by the ghost of Sir Fulke-Greville;  the apparition of a grey lady allegedly seen;  small girl heard crying in upstairs room;  footsteps heard and peculiar mist seen.
